Just wondering what others do when creating addon domains that already exists at another host.

Addon domains creation is not allowed unless DNS already points to the host where cPanel is installed.

However, to minimize downtime, one would naturally want to upload a copy of the content first, set up any email address and forwarders, etc.

Obviously, the other host here is *NOT* using cPanel, otherwise we'd just transfer the account via WHM.

How can you possibly do this when cPanel won't even let you create the domain, and its resulting filespace?

I think you want this setting:

    WHM > Tweak Settings > Domains >
If yes, reenable it when done. ;)
