A couple of months ago we started having some sites not loading. Instead the browser showed:
    "The page isn’t redirecting properly"

Most complains were for WordPress sites.

We later found out that the sites showing the error didn't have right DB connection settings. Putting correct DB credential resolved the issues.

Why isn't there a PHP/DB error instead of indefinite redirects? This would make troubleshooting easier.

3 days ago we came across a Drupal site that is showing "The page isn’t redirecting properly". This has refused to work even after putting right DB settings.

What is the main cause of the redirects? How can we resolve the Drupal site?

I would think if you had incorrect database settings in your sites configuration file, the site wouldn't load at all, let alone redirect incorrectly. What credentials did you change exactly?

More of a question for drupal support forums I think. Have you tried disabling your htaccess file to see if the site comes up without it?

We managed to trace the problem with drupal site to a missing table.

But we still don't have an explanation why we get an indefinite redirects instead of PHP/MySQL error.

Were you able to try disabling your htaccess file?
