I woke up to this message today:

The SSL certificate for dovecot on ser.domain.com expired. A new self-signed certificate was installed to replace it.

Be aware that cPanel will automatically and unexpectedly replace a good certificate with an self-signed certificate a full 3-4 days before the valid certificate expires.

cPanel sends out emails on expiring certs 30 days in advance of them expiring too.

Your server's SSL certificate for dovecot will expire in less than 30 days. You need to install a new certificate as soon as possible. You can install a new certificate using WHM's "Manage Service SSL Certificates" interface: server.domain.com:2087/scripts2/manageservicecrts (Main >> Service Configuration >> Manage Service SSL Certificates).

True, it tells you that in 30 days the SSL will expire. What it doesn't tell you is that in 27 days, that it will drop the valid certificate and replace it with one that prevents anyone from getting their mail!
