    I compiled apache for a search engine with:

    Registered Globals: ON
    Safe Mode: OFF
    Enable_DL: ON
    With track_vard
    with DG

    php 4.3.3 and also
    4.3.4

    The following happened.

    1) Sites that worked perfectly unde 4.3.3 for months, suddenly produced errors, like script failing to execute php commands, functioning very slow - 4mint. to get a
    connection.

    I had to change the below from:

    error_reporting(0);
    session_start();
    if (!$PHPSESSID) {
    session_register('memsol_loggedin');
    session_register('memsol_user');
    session_register('memsol_pass');
    } else if (!$memsol_loggedin){
    session_register('memsol_loggedin');
    session_register('memsol_user');
    session_register('memsol_pass');
    }

    To:

    error_reporting(0);
    session_start();
    if (!$PHPSESSID) {
    $_SESSION['auth'];
    $_SESSION['auth'];
    $_SESSION['auth'];
    } else if (!$memsol_loggedin){
    $_SESSION['auth'];
    $_SESSION['auth'];
    $_SESSION['auth'];

    So that a login-script could work again.

    Shopping cart stopped working and custom scripts cause errors such as not to take commands. I upgraded and down graded, deleted php and reinstalled; done all
    i could - no change!

    After a week or so the login script activated by its self.

    But errors remained elsewhere.

    Now I deleted a site that had been up since last June and decided to upgrade to 4.3.4, but apache would start:

    we done it all, restarts, recompile in Cpanel, in SSH, back forth for 4hours.

    During the 4th recompile (or maybe during a apache error check) I noticed that the name of the site I deleted came in the apache thread - what was it doing
    there.......

    I decided to roll back the site I deleted a few days earlier. It would not rollback, but I manually recreated the account - I done it and restarted apache - It worked
    and apache was up!

    But the errors remain, now the s-engine shows an error as well.

    I am certain there is a bug somewhere, PHP or apache.

    Note: setting the php.ini file back to what it was before the engine config makes no difference at all!

    Anyone any comments on this? Many server admins are lost with this!
