Hi guys.

I got this error message from email.

Maintenance ended; however, it did not exit cleanly (256). The following events were logged: “scripts/rpmup”. Review the update logs to determine why the update failed.

[2019-09-26 21:42:39 +0800] E [/usr/local/cpanel/scripts/rpmup] The “/usr/local/cpanel/scripts/rpmup” command (process 14451) reported error number 1 when it ended.
Tried serveral approaches according to this forum and Google. The problem still exist.

Here are the steps I have done.

1. "WHM Home » Software » Rebuild RPM Database"

2. /scripts/upcp

Hey there,@tony1124,

The nightly cPanel updates call the rpmup script that you're receiving the errors about. This essentially is just like running "yum update" on the command line of the system, and if you try that on your machine you'll receive the same output that you provided in the third box in your initial message.

While cPanel does use the RPM system for tools like EasyApache 4, the "nodesource" repository that is being referenced in the output there isn't something that is included with the operating system by default, or as part of any cPanel tools. Since this is the case you would want to work with the system administrator of that machine to either fix the dependency problems if you need that package, or remove the package and disable the repository if that is not something you're using.

Let me know if that helps!
