Just my two cents about the udpate thing, yes, yes, on occasion, strange things happen after updates. However, DarkOrb responded recently by allowing us to choose the level of our updates (Bleeding Edge, Critical Only, Etc.). So, they did respond to this issue.

Yes, I feel like complaining sometimes about little things that go wrong with Cpanel, but to be honest, I ran my hosting business with Cobalt RaQs for years and I have found Cpanel to be a complete and total blessing for my company. My customers love the CPanel and features and I love the WHM interface. Almost 2 years with Cpanel now and I love it.

So, I say, no server admin interface is perfect, but for goodness sake, at least they DO update their software consistently.

My 0.02 :)

I have Cpanel 5.3.0-R94 and the individual user_prefs are still taken into account.

That looks odd :p

We have the same setup, RH7.3, Cpanel 5.3.0-R94, but this is what happens:

[b:64f0013ee4]I just tested by placing my sending address in a blacklist, then in the whitelist. They didn't seem to make a difference: blacklist would force it to be taged spam, which it wasn't; whitelist shows up as USER_IN_WHITELIST or somesuch in the headers, and it didn't.[/b:64f0013ee4]

Guess I took the easy way out -- I removed SpamAssassin as an available option through WHM.

This problem is resolved in newer builds. You can just run /scripts/sysup to get the update.

Another Exim update, another update that overwrites my previously modded exim.conf for mailscanner. No indication that the new version is coming, nobody even know if it works or its been tested. Lets just overwrite everyones configuration, its ok, if it screwed up their system support will fix it. What a joke!

exim is not up to date (Fri Nov 29 08:14:55 2002)

I've still disabled SpamAssassin and will probably never allow it. ;)

Previous experience has shown there is too much overseeing involved (from an Admin POV) and it's easier to connect to individual RBL Databases themselves. That plus the eMail Blocking filters provided within Cpanel & Horde, provide much better customization. It also puts some of the onus on each Client. So the Server does some Spam blocking and the Client does some Spam blocking, which is, as it should be --IMO.

Plus the fact that half of the stuff you would want to block is rem'ed out in the body_test scripts.

Take a look at 20-body_test.cf and you can see the amount of porn related material that is not checked for blocking.

It's kinda useless if your not catching the things you really need to catch.

The only thing I have found usefull is the whitelist and blacklist files. But these have to modified manually after the fact.
