Hi all,

I have been considering getting cPanel for a couple of months now, but more and more all I see in here are problems that never seem to get fixed.

Is this an accurate assumption of the current version being used, i.e. should I steer clear or are the problems worth putting up with compared to the benefits.

Obviously, I do realise that a forum is very unlikely to be full or even partly based on news of this cpanel is great, it does this that and the other so well, but the weight of moans and groans is hard to ignore.

Thanks in advance.

CPanel is indeed great, especially compared to other control panels currently out there...

Many times, some issues appear not to be addressed possibly because the development team is working on other issues, or because it is not directly their fault !

Is CPanel really supposed to fix a bug in Apache or PHP ? Or course, I'd prefer to have them help us, but I can't really blame them.

I think it is well worth the money and certain datacenters and or resellers have some pretty good prices on licenses. For how many servers cPanel is installed on, this forum is a ghost town. I would have to say alot of the stuff you see in the forum is user inflicted, WHM/cPanel is so easy to use people that have no business in control of a server are at the helm (and that goes for me) :).

Cpanel like all software which is mounted on servers has issues which need to be sorted as certain events happen.

1. Upgrades by Cpanel itself
2. Upgrades by other software suppliers such as php and mysql
3. The OS of the server
4. The hardware of the server.

the main thing is that the support we have received from Dark Orb (Cpanel Programmers) is above standard, this makes the big difference.

Many of the posts you might see at the forum could come from many different people.

1. People who have a Cpanel license and want an instant fix for a problem
2. People who do not have a paid license and need help.
3. People who have older versions with not paid support.

I have looked at other Control panel forums and the support requests are either just as many or more for software with support costs much higher than charge by Cpanel.

Our Opinion of Cpanel
Highly reccomended server management software with above average support.

Fully understand what you guys have said and like I said, very rarely see praise on a support forum, so that is why I placed this post.

Looking at the costs of ownership within the cPanel site, could you point me towards some of the resellers that provide these good prices on licenses, thats assuming they are not bundled with server :)
