thousands of files in root mail directory

I have found thousands of files / folders in the main email directory, they are not in any domain and they all follow a common name sequence, such as knowing what is generating it or if I can delete them?

there are more than 300,000 files that are in mail/

administracion.cur.1579676580_M171992P1712720_hosting_com,S=16411,W=16655:2,	0	0 bytes
administracion.cur.1474483875_M995408P329403_hosting_com,S=8443,W=8593:2,S ...............

These are standard mail files, this is how email looks on the command line though normally it's not including the administracion.cur. portion.

For example, my default account has 1 email in /home/$user/mail/cur/

1586907738.M990296P21154.server.myserver.com,S=2296,W=2364:2,s

This looks as though potentially mail was moved and landed in the wrong spot, did you at some point have an email account [email protected]
