I am running FreeBSD 5.3 and I am wondering what the permissions should be for /tmp since my symlink for mysql is set to /tmp/mysql.sock -> /var/db/mysql/mysql.sock

    Thanks in advance.

It should be 777. Better yet, run /scripts/securetmp and will take care of it.
