    hi all

lets c who can maybe help me with this isssue

i am running a FreeBSD 4.11 server with cpanel and whm

My problem is i keep getting messages on my customers ircd servers saying "To Many Open Files On Sytem" when this happen i can not ssh to the server or access email or httpd it all goes down so i have to get the server rebooted to access it again now i managed to raise the limit of open files using sysctl maxfiles from 7207 to 10000 now even 7207 should be enough for the kind of thing i use the server for i have done some research and it seems to be possibly a exim problem which i am currently running.
Has anyone else experienced this problem ? and did they manage to find a solution apart from raising the open file limit as this just seems to be feeding the problem ?

    Thanks in advance

Here are my limits as they stand just now using ulimit -a :

    Code:
core file size (blocks, -c) unlimited
data seg size (kbytes, -d) 524288
    file size (blocks, -f) unlimited
max locked memory (kbytes, -l) unlimited
max memory size (kbytes, -m) unlimited
    open files (-n) 7207
    pipe size (512 bytes, -p) 1
    stack size (kbytes, -s) 65536
    cpu time (seconds, -t) unlimited
    max user processes (-u) 3603
    virtual memory (kbytes, -v) unlimited

    Do the following,

go into /etc/profile.d/ and edit the two files limits.csh and limits.sh.

after that edit the file /etc/profile

    ircd setting problem

    Do the following,

go into /etc/profile.d/ and edit the two files limits.csh and limits.sh.

after that edit the file /etc/profile

modify and setting up to 1024 open files or the user limits for the ircd
