I saw that I basicaly don't have the latest version of Bind on my server. There's no security problem with the current version thats on there, its the one that is the current RPM for RedHat Enterprise 3. So I'm faced with a decision. Should I download the more recent version from ISC or should I just leave it alone?

I'd suggest that you leave it alone. If you decide to upgrade it manually, then you would have to remove the RHE rpm and then you'll be responsible for upgrading it yourself and monitoring the ISC site for security releases, etc. The whole point of RHE as an enterprise OS is that it remains stable and secure and the responsibility for that is assumed by RedHat. Once you start upgrading outside of their rpm base you're opening yourself up to both security and stability problems.
