TOP command error

    Hello,

    We are getting following error on server -

    =========================
    top: error while loading shared libraries: /usr/lib/libncurses.so.5: invalid ELF header
    =========================

    Please let us know- how to resolve this issue?

    That looks suspiciously like a rootkit installation that has overwritten the default top binary to hide malicious processes. You should run the popular chkrootkit and rkhunter utilities to check that you don't have a rootkit installed. If you do, then backup your data and have the OS reinstalled and the server secured.

    If it's not a rootkit you could try reinstalling the rpm that contains top: procps

    got the same thing. looking into it now :-/

    top: error while loading shared libraries: libncurses.so.4: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

    I have the same error with one of my boxes:

    top: error while loading shared libraries: libncurses.so.4: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

    Does someone know how to solve this?
