I have been talking to a host that may give me free hosting to customize his control panel. I thought \'How hard could it be?\", until I came here, now I don\'t think I know what I have gotten myself into

Please don\'t flame a total newbie..how do I get started? How do I get ahold of the files? Is there a user manual somewhere?

Thanks

Hi, you\'ll have to ask your host to tar up the /usr/local/cpanel/base/frontend/iconic directory and then email it to you- basically, you\'ll have to redesign each page... it CAN be done using dreamweaver, since the design is based off of DW templates-- but there is no way to avoid manual editing. Also, be aware that cpanel tags are case sensitive. Changing the case (which is sometimes done automatically by dreamweaver) will cause the function not to work.

Good luck,

Hi Brian,

How many pages are there to edit? He acted like he didn\'t really want to send the files unless I agreed for sure, but I can\'t agree for sure if I don\'t have the files :P

Can I get them through the download of CPanel, or is there such an animal? Anyone have copies?

There are about 160 files waiting to be modified. As told above, Dreamweaver tends to change the case of the CPanel commands AND insert a linebreak where it should not. Add another 50% development time to debug.

kosmo-

I'm actually thinking of making some themes. What would you recommend to fix the mistakes dreamweaver makes? I know they have a search and replace function which is very helpful.
