Totally confused

Everytime I go to my website address, a list of files and folders shows up. How would I set it up so that the page I want to load up, will load up?

Sorry for the stupid question, I'm not used to this type of control panel.

This might seem real basic, and I appologise if you have already done this... but, have you uploaded an index.html page yet?

Yes you did, but you did not put it in the public_html directory, you put it in the public_html/index directory. It has to be in your public_html directory to show when you surf to your domain.
