transfer to new server - database connection failure - shell access required

Hi - I have a centos5 server (running whm) and am upgrading to centos7 server

Initially I transferred packages to new server, now trying to transfer accounts.

After transfer of site, I get database connection failure. No remotely obvious reason or errors.

I stumbled across fact that if I edit package to allow Shell access (on new server) the problem disappears - but this option is certainly not set or required on old server.

I do not really want the packages to have Shell access.

Any ideas to explain the above and suggest a solution ?

Thanks Everyone

Are your databases on same server? even remote database connection don't need shell access for account.

Just wondering how the database connection string is written.
Database is on same server (in both cases - i.e., both were on same [old] server before transfer and both on same [new] server after transfer]

Thanks

Hello,

Could you provide some more information on the database connection failures? What's a specific error message you see in the web browser? Did the MySQL version change between servers?

Thank you.
