I am having a lot of issues. Been spending a lot of time on this and still have no clue what to do when using the transfer tool.

I am moving all our websites from one server to another using the transfer tool.

When trying to login to Root authentication, I get the error below. Any one have an idea what I could be doing wrong?

The remote basic credential check failed due to an error (The password that you provided is not correct, or the SSH key is not permitted access: unable to establish master SSH connection: bad password or master process exited unexpectedly: ) and response: Connecting to IPADDRESS:22 as root...using method password... unable to establish master SSH connection: bad password or master process exited unexpectedly:

Hello,

I think you are getting this issues due to cPHulk Brute Force Protection. I will suggest you please try to disable server firewall and cPHulk Brute Force Protection on your both server while migrating your account and try again.

Hello :)

Try manually connecting to the source server via SSH from the destination server's command line to verify SSH is working as expected. You may need to allow the server IP addresses to the firewall on each server, or ensure cPHulk brute force detection is not blocking authentication.

Thank you.

Thanks for your help. It looks like cPHulk brute force was disabled on the old/remote server, but I tried disabling it in the new server and didn't help either.

Does cPHulk brute force manage the firewall? I whitelisted the IP addresses on both servers just in case and disabled it again, but still didn't work.

I can connect to SSH though. Any suggestions?

No, your firewall is separate. Did you try temporarily disabling your firewall rules on both servers to see if the issue continued?

Thank you.

Where do I find the firewall or disable it? I read online that it is under "Plugins" and that "ConfigServer Security&Firewall" is typically used, but I don't see it.

Under plugins, I just have ClamAV and Munin plugins.

I'm having the same problem. Don't know what has changed but I never had a problem til now and I can't seem to find a solution.
Hello :)

Is my previous response to this thread helpful?

I am trying to move some accounts to but I am having similar problems.

I have a few servers with
Cpanel : 11.52.1
Centos : 5.11
csf v8.08 + LFD

I am trying to transfer a few accounts as a preparation to a migration to Centos 7.

When I want to use the Transfer tool I use :

Remote Server Address: my custom IP
Remote SSH Port: my custom port
Login:
root (Default)
Authentication Method:
my Password (Default)

Then I hit fetch account list but I always get :

The remote basic credential check failed due to an error (The password that you provided is not correct, or the SSH key is not permitted access: unable to establish master SSH connection: bad password or master process exited unexpectedly: ) and response: Connecting to my custom IP:my custom port as root...using method password... unable to establish master SSH connection: bad password or master process exited unexpectedly:

I have this between 5 servers I am sure my root pass is the right one and disabling csf + LFD doesn't help.
What could be the problem?

New Nevermind, I wasn't paying attention and still had my ssh config on disable root login and that gave the error.
I am happy to see you were able to address the issue. Thank you for updating us with the outcome.
