We have a client that is migrating an account to our shared servers. The server they are coming from has Innodb enabled and the account we are transferring has a database with an Innodb table in it.

The server they are moving to does not have Innodb enabled. (skip-innodb in the /etc/my.cnf).

When we perform the transfer through WHM, /etc/my.cnf is automatically altered with skip-innodb removed.

Is this a bug or does cPanel intentionally do this?

Quick response from cPanel staff, as always:

Spoke too soon. No dice. Even with that file in place, skip-innodb is removed from /etc/my.cnf during the transfer. Updated ticket, awaiting a response.

    Finishing up this thread...

We've been having this happen more and more, particularly when transferring accounts from other hosts. Our stop-gap solution has been to write a cron that continously checks to see if innodb is turned on and alert us to it.

cPanel has acknowledged this bug and has open an internal bug report.
