I'm moving accounts from a dedicated server running Plesk 7.5.1 to a new dedi running cPanel 11.24.2 using the cPanel transfer function over ssh. I'm encountering a couple of problems with databases that have been transferred.

The first problem is with database name truncation by cPanel. I understand that cPanel only allows 8 characters for account names and 7 characters for databases. I see this is due to cPanel adding the 8 character account name plus an underscore as a prefix to the database name... which is truncated down to 7 characters from the original name that existed on the Plesk server.

Does anyone have a suggestion as to the best way to deal with this - currently I'm having to go into each config file for the database app and change the database name and username. This worked for a Wordpress database, but I'm still having problems with a phpbb database... which brings me to another problem.

The phpbb app was giving me errors in opening files from the .cache directory, so I went in and changed all the files from 620 to 644. This enabled phpbb to load, but there are still problems such as the captcha image not showing. So I'm thinking there are still permission problems throughout the phpbb installation. It appears that persmissions which worked on the Plesk system do not work under cPanel.

Has anyone dealt with this problem and found a solution other than reinstalling phpbb from scratch and importing the database backup?

    Thanks!

Thanks David, I have made a ticket for this and have already got a response back. I'll posts updates here when we get things resolved.

BTW - I'm loving WHM / cPanel ... it's far superior to my previous control panel!
