Copy multiple accounts/packages from another server

    1. packages are transferred but not feature lists

    2. I copied packages and 1 account. The packages transferred and then the account, and an hour later it was still "transferring" although the account was already finished (viewed under list accounts). I pressed skip account and the transfer screen finished normally. The logs revealed that the account had transferred correctly with no errors.

We do provide free assistance for cPanel-to-cPanel transfers if you have root access to the machines. You may want to have our technical analysts take a look at this and assist with the migration process. You can do so by submitting a ticket via the link in my signature.

I have done cpanel transfers many times, i don't need help with that. I'm reporting that you need to do some extra testing of this feature and I am reporting specific problems with it that need to be fixed.

I have opened an internal bug case in order to address issue #1.

In regards issue #2, if you could please open a support ticket with a server that is experiencing this issue it would be quite valuable. Since we are not able to replicate it on our testing environments at the current time.

    Hi Alex,

Sorry i have done the transfer (painstakingly one account at a time) and don't envisage changing servers again for several years.

I reported a bug many many months ago where an account that is suspended before it is transferred has it's passwords still suspended but it is not marked in WHM as suspended and it's http is visible. This hasn't been fixed.

Also during the transfer your script suspends the account after the transfer has completed. You should be suspending before the data is tar'd - otherwise databases will still be being used. One large account took over an hour to transfer, luckily it didn't use databases.

That is the intended behavior when transferring suspended accounts.

If you would like to see an alternative behavior implemented, please feel free to submit a enhancement request via bugzilla.cpanel.net

    Thank you

It's intended that transferred suspended accounts have their passwords suspended, http not suspended and are not marked in whm as suspended? WOW you guys are crazy!

    same problem

I am experiencing a similar problem.

    Transferring from:

    WHM 11.23.2 cPanel 11.23.4-R26138
    CENTOS Enterprise 4.6 i686 on standard - WHM X v3.1.0

    Transferring to:

    WHM 11.23.2 cPanel 11.23.4-R26138
    CENTOS Enterprise 5 x86_64 on standard - WHM X v3.1.0

Accounts transfer just fine, but packages do not.

When reviewing the transfer logs All I see is....

Attempting to copy Packages & Feature Lists from x.x.x.x
    Copying Package Business ... Done
    Unable to download Package Business
    Copying Package Reseller ... Done
    Unable to download Package Reseller

    etc...

Where Do I look at the logs to try and identify why it is not being transferred as the error message is not that great!

I don't like the idea of sitting down and manually creating all the packages for each reseller :(

My apologies, seems there was a bit of miscommunication.

The intended behavior is to unsuspend the accounts that are been transferred. Meaning the suspended accounts on the source server will become unsuspended on the target server. Of course the intention is not to have their passwords suspended. I wasn't able to replicate that issue on our test environments, nonetheless if you run into that issue please submit a support ticket 'ATTN: QA' and we will definitely look into it.

    Thank you for your input.

if it matters, I have NEVER managed to get packages transferred between multiple servers, different hosting companies I have transferred for ..never worked for me. I get same output you get. It has never worked for me. But not a big deal. another thing I have seen lately is nobody owned files don't get chowned back to nobody. can be a pain when client is used to php managing files.

Check the email accounts on your test server, you'll find the email accounts don't work (bad password) until they are unsuspended (even though they are not marked as suspended). Also this specifically refers to accounts that are suspended BEFORE the transfer not to accounts that are suspended as part of the transfer process.

I was able to replicate the email account issue. /home/user/etc/domain.test/shadow doesn't get rid of the *LOCKED* entry.

I will be addressing this issue with the Transfers Development Team, and continue to do further testing. If you run into any other transfer related issues please do not hesitate and let me know at your convenience.

Feel free to contact me directly: alex@cpanel.net

Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention.

    transfer issue / maybe different

    Greetings

I have a different issue... well it might be part of the same - so figured here is a good place to start

    https://tickets.cpanel.net/review/msg.cgi?ticketid=290449

When I attempt to do a transfer I am told no accounts are there to be transferred.

We tried to do this last night - about 15 or so copied over out of the 350
from the server we are looking to retire -

Then they started suddenly failing md5

we went to restart and voila - no go

    WHM 11.23.2 cPanel 11.23.4-R26138
    CENTOS Enterprise 4.6 i686 on standard - WHM X v3.1.0

    to

    WHM 11.23.2 cPanel 11.23.4-R26138
    CENTOS Enterprise 5.2 i686 on xen enterprise - WHM X v3.1.0

I guess that is good to know - just 2 days after I had to manually transfer about 80 packages to 2 servers :(

At least by next time I need to do this it will have filtered down to stable
