I'm new to Cpanel and new to dedicated servers and am just figuring stuff out bit by bit. I'm getting an email from the server every day with this as the content and a subject of Trojan Warning:

    Hidden Pid detected! [pid 1742]
    hidden from ps: [yes]
    hidden from kernel: [yes]
    binary location: [/usr/sbin/named]

    Hidden Pid detected! [pid 1743]
    hidden from ps: [yes]
    hidden from kernel: [yes]
    binary location: [/usr/sbin/named]

When I manually check for trojans with Cpanel it says the server is clean? Should I worry? If not, can I stop the messages?

Thanks in advance for any help.

    Regards
    Martin

I would advise you to check where the messages are coming from.

You won't get much help here because most of us with Cpanel are clueless. Go to WebHosting Talk security forum and ask the same question. There are a lot of Cpanel users on that forum.

Thanks for the advice - it turned out to be a moot point eventually due to a hard disk crash (lucky me!) I'll check out the other resources you recommended for next time.
