Trustix and its many issues with cpanel and whm. Check out the bugzilla report for it here.

While Trustix holds its reputation for a light weight Linux OS... And SUPPOSEDLY a secure OS... It has its problems with cPanel and WHM.. Many which make Trustix a non viable/reliable OS for any production environment.

    http://bugzilla.cpanel.net/show_bug.cgi?id=1308

    Check it out.

I have spoken with trustix today and the qvota thing shuld be fixed, they are waiting for cpanel to bugfix the named issue and told me this week. I wish Cpanel could make this a priorety but it might also actualy be som work to sort out.

I still think Trustix can be a superior option, and it not clever to doom a company because there are some WHM issues, it is still Cpanel making cpanel, not Trustix.

Looks like evrything is ok with our first Trustix install now. Cpanel support kindly helped, and I installed edge version of whm. All is good, syslogd is green, named is working, and proftpd is working to. Pure ftpd is not fixed as of yet, as far as I know.

There's still an issue that I just found out today.
Can't get GD to work in PHP.

    buildapache error:
    configure: error: libXpm.(a|so) not found.

I need this as many clients use it.
Found a couple threads mentioned about this, but not with Trustix.

    another issue...

    [~/src/exiscan]# tail /var/log/exim_mainlog
2004-10-07 15:44:56 1CFTtQ-0002Wt-2s malware acl condition: clamd: unable to connect to UNIX socket /var/run/clamav/clamd (Permission denied)
    2004-10-07 15:44:56 1CFTtQ-0002Wt-2s H=(removed) [(removed)] F=<(removed)> temporarily rejected after DATA

    to fix this...
    # chmod 755 /var/run/clamav/

I don't blame this on Trustix, since it's supposed to be secured by its nature.
But too secure, in combination with cPanel, makes this whole thing messed up
    quite a bit.

Edit: Let's not forget to mention that I installed clamscan using the
exiscan_install script found in forum here.

Good that I haven't put these 2 servers in production _yet_

yeah... you cant really put a Trustix box into production yet as full usage.

Maybe personal use, few sites here and there, but other than that... you may have problems.

I also know that the following problems are expectant..

    1. my hostname doesnt resolve to the proper IP.. im looking into this.. could be my problem
    2. mailman doesnt work
    3. fcron keeps emailing me about errors in exim and mailman

those are a few things still unresolved.

    No not yet.

Trustix doesn't come with XFree86-devel (I like this fact, actually)
which contains libXpm.so that is required by PHP to compile GD.

They're working on fixing this issue.

    its already fixed I believe...

    check

    upgrade to 9.9.1 E4 (edge)

you may need to install XFree86-Devel by yourself.

last time I checked Trustix doesn't carry that package.
Installing it from RPMfind is not a problem, but wouldn't that break SWUP automatic update, which is what this combo Trustix+cPanel hosting automation is for?

Huh, now compiling PHP with IMAP gets me this error.

    ...(build apache)
    configure php-4.3.9...(--with-apxs=/usr/local/apache/bin/apxs --with-xml --enable-bcmath --enable-calendar --with-curl --enable-ftp --with-imap --with-mcrypt --with-mhash --enable-magic-quotes --with-mysql=/usr --with-openssl --enable-discard-path --with-pear --enable-sockets --enable-track-vars --with-ttf --enable-versioning --with-zlib).... . . . . . . . . . Done

configure: error: Cannot find rfc822.h. Please check your IMAP installation.

GD and IMAP should now fully work in easyapache.
