    Hello,

I have two servers at Server Matrix and every night for the past 7 nights both servers have at least Apache failures. This generally happens at 1:00 am server time. From what I can tell this seems to be about the same time the following cron job runs Cron <root@server> /scripts/upcp .

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    The servers are using RHE3.0
    Apache Core 1.3.29

According to tech support the latest version of Kernel is installed.
Last night I disable the nightly backup on one machine to see if that would make a difference without success.

    Thank you for the help.

    Regards,
    Santame

Not sure if this helps but I ordered 2 new total control servers at the planet and /scripts/upcp - run manually or cron will cause the servers to go offline and stop responding completely. This is with RHEL 3.0

I had this too on an Enterprise server. The reason was that I was using Apache 1.x, but upcp (ie using up2date) tries to install the latest httpd which is actually Apache 2.x. It shuts down the existing httpd process, tries to install the new one but fails, and then doesn't restart the old httpd process again.

I used up2date to add httpd as a package to skip and everything's been fine since.
