I'm getting errors while trying to edit the my.cnf (mySQL) file. It's returning a permission denied error under SSHand SFTP.

    on SSH it's showing:

    -------A------- /etc/my.cnf

    -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 523 May 2 14:12 /etc/my.cnf

    Hello,

The -A flag isn't the same as the -a flag. -A would not prevent editing.

Please post the full bash prompt lines when trying to edit it. I imagine you are either:

    a) not using vi /etc/my.cnf to edit it (I saw one user who was entering just /etc/my.cnf without telling the shell what editor to use, which would always return permission denied)
    b) not logged in as the root user and trying to edit it as only root can edit that file

    Thanks!
