Unable to Login to Squirrelmail/Horde Webmail on new server

I have tried the whm interactive knowledgebase, openned a cpanel ticket with license key activation (which is supposded to give me priority response) -- no response in almost 2 weeks now, I was not given a ticket number, nor any confirmation email...
also tried looking in cpanel support forums but all their solutions didn't work for me (see below).

ERROR:

Logging into Horde webmail gives me:

Notice: Unknown(): Retrying CRAM-MD5 authentication after authentication failure (errflg=1) in Unknown on line 0
Notice: Unknown(): Retrying CRAM-MD5 authentication after authentication failure (errflg=1) in Unknown on line 0
Notice: Unknown(): Can not authenticate to IMAP server: authentication failure (errflg=2) in Unknown on line 0

When I restart Imap in whm, it always shows this at the end:
"imap has failed, please contact the sysadmin (result was "couriertcpd is not running"). "

but it shows that it's running fine (green light).

I have looked through many threads at cpanel support and tried multiple things, including:

touch /etc/passwd
/scripts/updateuserdomains

cp /usr/local/cpanel/3rdparty/bin/imapd /usr/sbin

/scripts/restartsrv_exim
/scripts/restartsrv_courier
/scripts/courierup --force

/scripts/perlinstaller --force Cwd
/scripts/eximup --force
/scripts/upcp --force

Nothing has helped fix this problem.

I'm Running O/S: FreeBSD 6.1

Can anyone help ? :(

I do not know anything about "priority support" - as all licenses have to activated to use, but what do the mail logs show? Both exim_mainlog and maillog? Is there mail in the box? Can you see the mail? Can you use IMAP from a client and it works or it only does not work through the web client? Have you tried subscrbing to the folders (selecting folders.)? Can you get to it through Cpanel? Is it the main account, an additional account or all accounts? The login is different for the main account and another account. (Main account does not use the domain as part of the username for login.)

The password error seems clear, that the password is wrong. That's why the logs may help.

Also, try /scripts/mailperm - if there is a permission error.

Those disabled messages are sometimes bogus. Mine has said exim is disabled for a couple of years.

Lloyd,

Thanks for your response... in my ticket I had all the login info given, but anyways..

Don't know how to check mail logs.. will research this

I believe the inbox has mail, in WHM, I can see mail in the "mail que"

I tried using Outlook Express to connect via IMAP and couldn't get it to work, kept getting authentication errors.

I tried creating a new mail account through cpanel, but it kept saying :
"The e-mail account [acct. name] with the login Write Failed: Disk Quota Exceeded and [acct. name] with a quota of 1000 megs was successfully created."

Don't understand what you mean about subscribing/selecting folders.. researching..

Can't get to webmail in ANY way.
Not for main account, not for ANY account.
(I have a main account and many addon domains).

I tried /scripts/mailperm -- but it didn't do anything, same problem.

These emails are critical! I mean critical!! Been a few weeks and I haven't found any way to get to this mail.

This is a new server. New hardware: P4 D 2.8 GB, 2GB Ram, 500GB HD
Fresh install of O/S FreeBSD 6.1
Fresh install and license of cpanel/whm

After migrating sites from old server (running Linux / cpanel / whm ), I cannot access any mail.
Imap wasn't loading at first. I Installed imap through SSH and now it loads (shows green light in whm), but when restarting Imap in WHM it always shows this at the end:

imap statusroot 44573 0.0 0.0 1196 676 ?? S 5:15PM 0:00.00 /usr/local/sbin/courierlogger -facility=mail -pid=/var/run/authdaemond/pid -start /usr/local/libexec/courier-authlib/authdaemond
root 44574 0.0 0.0 1404 820 ?? S 5:15PM 0:00.00 /usr/local/libexec/courier-authlib/authdaemond
root 44580 0.0 0.0 1404 820 ?? S 5:15PM 0:00.00 /usr/local/libexec/courier-authlib/authdaemond
root 44581 0.0 0.0 1404 820 ?? S 5:15PM 0:00.00 /usr/local/libexec/courier-authlib/authdaemond
root 44582 0.0 0.0 1404 820 ?? S 5:15PM 0:00.00 /usr/local/libexec/courier-authlib/authdaemond
root 44583 0.0 0.0 1404 820 ?? S 5:15PM 0:00.00 /usr/local/libexec/courier-authlib/authdaemond
root 44584 0.0 0.0 1404 820 ?? S 5:15PM 0:00.00 /usr/local/libexec/courier-authlib/authdaemond
imap has failed, please contact the sysadmin (result was "couriertcpd is not running").

So couriertcp doesn't look to be running correctly.

I have contacted my provider (Justin at Awknet) and we have both been trying to get couriertcpd running but not even sure if that is the problem.

Justin says the latest version of courier-imap doesn't compile. Last go at it, he was trying a manual compile.. don't think it worked.

Any more ideas/help would be appreciated.

Same Problem, Little Dragon

Little Dragon, I don't have the answer, but I sure have exactly the same problem. I just set up a VPS server on goDaddy and everything works, FTP, account setup, packages, etc. I can add email accounts and set up their userid and password.

When I go online via browser or through CPanel, the email verification is INITIALLY ACCEPTED but then the Horde or SquirrelMail interface re-prompts for id/password and says that the entries are not valid.

I will follow this post and work more on this...all the best.

update

Mine was a simple solution: restart exim and cppop servers...

I'm sure you've long since tried that, but it quickly solved the verify process for me, and error messages I saw did not point toward that. All the best.

I was experiencing the same issue until I used

/scripts/resetimappasswds

I was then able to log in to everything.

Good luck.

I tried this.. unfortunately, it didn't seem to help.

From the error messages I get when I restart Imap thru whm, my only information is that "couriertcp is not running."

I tried to install Courier-Imap for FreeBSD as per instructions on this page (http://ezine.daemonnews.org/200308/courier-imap.html)

cd /usr/ports/mail/courier-imap
# make

Starts fine but half way through it gives me thses errors:

Anyone have any ideas on how to get courier-Imap installed or couriertcp running on my Freebsd server?

Just had a wicked idea, maybe the problems with my webmail, could be related to the disk quota problem? Or, caused by it?

Disk quotas are not displaying correctly in Cpanel, see thread:
http://forums.cpanel.net/showthread.php?p=270236#post270236

Uptil now I didn't think this would be a serious issue, but, since I tried to create new webmail accounts and get "disk quota exceeded" errors, maybe these two problems are related.

Perhaps even, this could be a reason for the couriertcpd compile failures?

FreeBSD is unsupported... new to me. Funny how you find these things out when it's too late lol. If I'd have known, I would have gone with linux when I had it setup, but I didn't because FreeBSD was my providers default O/S, and requesting custom options "could delay setup"... and now, things are taking a lot longer to get right.
