Since 15th March I've started to receive mails with nothing but the following...

The following errors occurred while transporting your backup files:

Unable to prune transport “<ftp-server>”

Backups have been running ok and appear to still be running ok. The only thing not happening was the backup managing files stored on the remote server, but I understood cPanel was not capable of managing the remote files according to the retention settings - it would only housekeep the local copies.

Seems to me there's an attempt in a recent update to manage the remote files too, but it's not working. Can you point me to where I'd find something that gives a clue as to a) what it's doing and b) why it can't do it?

Yes I already read that post, but given that thread was started in August 2013 and my issue only started a few days ago, the two do not seem related. Other than perhaps an attempt has been made to fix this but now it's causing problems in backups that were fine up until a few days ago, albeit not "pruning" (or in computer speak - deleting or housekeeping!) the old backups.

Happy for you to close this thread if you prefer to answer this question in the other thread? There is no answer to this particular question in that thread. I see yesterday someone else has now posted the exact same issue just started with their backups, so you should be able to tie this into some change you released at the weekend and where we go to get some actual information on why "pruning" is failing.

I have to say, it would be more helpful if the alert mail contained some useful information rather than just "something didn't work"!

Keep in mind that a resolution for the internal case referenced in the other thread has not been released yet. However, feel free to submit a ticket using the link in my signature so we can take a closer look and determine if it's a separate issue. You can post the ticket number here so we can update this thread with the outcome.

Thank you.
