Unable to reset Mysql Password

    I have gone through alot of post on how to change the root password for sql and I have not been able to set it. I have tried changing it via WHM also tried via the mysql quide.

    Can someone give me some help as to how to change the mysql root password

    Thanks I have followed the instructions and I can now connect to mysql whilst it is running in that mode but when I take it out of that mode it wont let me connect

    what do you mean by this mode... When you reset the password.. then that is final till it is again changed. how you are trying to connect and what error it shows ?

    Fixed it it was the .my.cnf file had the wrong password in side it
