    Hello everyone,

    We're running cpanel 11 on centos5 and I've noticed something weird on this server.

    For some reason sometimes the load average varies around 0.7-1.3 for a long time even though there is no apparrent reason. TOP shows no sign of processes that might cause this, CPU-usage is around 2.0-5.0% and IO-wait is 0-4%. The server is not using swap either.

    We have around 100 clients on this server which specs are:

    AMD Athlon 64 X2
    5600+ Dual Core
    4 gb ram

    Is this normal for a cpanel server and has anyone else experienced this? Normally the load average leves between 0-0.4

    In Past experience with high loads - it could literally be a wide range of things;

    - Check to see if a user is sending out mail shots
    - Check apache logs
    - Check apache usage

    Generally if you use the apache status, you should be able to see what domain(s) is causing it and suspend it.

    Yea, these were of course the first things that I checked. Apache had no weird processes running in it. Just the normal http and php processes which didn't last too long. I actually forgot to check mail, I got to do it next time.

    Otherwise apache and its logs didn't show anything weird.

    I wouldn't say a load average of 1.3 is anything to be concerned about.
