For the last four days, I am receiving an error in my php_error.log file at the same time as follows:

[20-Oct-2021 11:57:00 UTC] Unhandled exception in file cloner/websocket.php line 160: [ws_closed]: Connection closed
[21-Oct-2021 11:57:02 UTC] Unhandled exception in file cloner/websocket.php line 160: [ws_closed]: Connection closed
[22-Oct-2021 11:56:54 UTC] Unhandled exception in file cloner/websocket.php line 160: [ws_closed]: Connection closed
[23-Oct-2021 11:57:18 UTC] Unhandled exception in file cloner/websocket.php line 160: [ws_closed]: Connection closed

I want to bring in the following points:

1. There is no file that exists as cloner/websocket.php in my public_html folder.

2. No cron job running for this event.

3. Our developer team has not run any such file.

4. Our server is from Godaddy and we have contacted GoDaddy and they also have not run any such script.

Please help us to figure out why these errors are appearing.

Thanks for your response. We are not using any CMS and our website runs using core PHP and supporting HTML, JS and CSS.

Earlier we have set up WordPress, larval, and CI but later we have removed all such setups and did not use any of them for our website.

Hi,
We have already contacted GoDaddy who replied that they do not know the reason for the error and advised us to contact Cpanel forum, where experts can help you out to know the reason for the error.

Thanks for the update! Since we have no access to servers via the forums, it isn't considered an official means of support. This issue also does not appear to be related to cPanel or its software. If your web hosting provider is not able to resolve the issue, they can submit a ticket to cPanel on your behalf. I would suggest asking GoDaddy if they could submit a support ticket to cPanel for you. They shouldn't be pointing users to the forums here as an official means of support.

FYI A client has also been getting this error too on GoDaddy hosting. WordPress on shared server. Both their websites get it. (Hosting includes SUCURI firewall).

We also get a lot of 503 errors when trying simple plugin updates or backups. It seems like the hosting runs out of Physical memory.

GoDaddy support refuse to believe this is not a software issue. They claimed it was likely a plugin despite our explanation that the site(s) works OK on another server. IMO it is just poorly set up and overloaded servers.

Hello again! I do agree with you; it doesn't sound like an issue with the software to me. Even if it were to be a cPanel-related issue, we would need access to the server in order to investigate. Your host should have the ability to open tickets with cPanel. Did you request they open one? We would love to advise you further, but would simply be limited in what we can do on the forums. If your host strongly believes this is an issue with cPanel, they should be opening a ticket with us and providing their evidence that points to this.

I have been getting the exact same error on two of my sites, both hosted on GoDaddy as well, and they are saying everything is fine on their end (which they are notorious for). Their solution was to turn off the debugging so I wouldn't see the errors. They said they could not find the file with the name cloner either. After I requested they open a ticket with cPanel to investigate the issue as @cPanelAnthony suggested, they were like "wait, I'll look into it further." Lol.

I mentioned that it might have to do with web security backups as someone on StackOverflow mentioned, and we both noticed a correlation between the times. So they said they created a web socket file for me as it was missing on the hosting. Crossing my fingers that this solves the problem. I'll touch base again tomorrow to let you know if it still comes up.

Just some additional notes for you: I have been having connection issues a LOT lately with GoDaddy between all of our sites. I maintain seven sites regularly, all WordPress. Some on cPanel and some on Managed WordPress (because that's how my employer set them up). We're slowly migrating away from Managed WordPress because there are way too many problems there. The two sites I see this error on are both on cPanel. But not all of my cPanel sites have this error.

I did notice a difference on the cPanels between the sites with errors and the sites without errors. The sites with errors have the "Application Manager" listed under the Software section. And they also have the "Terminal" listed under the "Advanced" section. The error isn't specific to the cPanel version or anything else listed in the Server Information. The PHP version isn't unique to this issue, nor are any of the PHP settings. They are also all on Enhanced Business Hosting plans. I'm hoping the issue is resolved now, but if not, there are my current findings. Good luck.

Finally GoDaddy agreed after logn discussion that the said error was from their backup script originating due to recent change in their software. Thank you very much for your guidance
Thanks for letting me know. I just checked again for the error on one of my sites and it is still happening today, so them creating a web socket file was pointless. Were they able to fix your issue, @Samnvya IMS ?

I would suggest contacting GoDaddy support and linking this thread. You can let them know about @Samnvya IMS's response here and ask if they can help you remediate this issue with the backup script being described.

No, issue not resolved, error line still appearing, they just agreed only that the thing is happening from their side but I don't think they have taken care to resolve the issue. Following was their reply "
We have recently updated our Website Backup software, which does upload PHP scripts like cloner.php or websocket.php to complete the backups. These PHP scripts can report errors based on the hosting server configuration or website configuration.

he cloner.php file is used during the website backup process. You will not find it in your files as it is uploaded and removed during the backup service.

The method of transporting the files during the backup is through websockets. The call to the websocket.php file is during the moving of the copied files.

If you see and error, it could be a temporary error and the backup process will attempt to send that file again until it's received or reports as a failure of the backup process. When looking over your backups, all backups have reported as a success. I would deem the error as a temporary error.

The unprofessional response from the host
"I have created an internal task to have this issue looked into by our developers. At this time, as this error is being generated, it doesn't seem to actually be effecting the process of the backups and we are getting no further errors on the backup platform which means this task may have a lower priority then others that are actually impacting the backup service."
