subscribing, too -- want to uninstall from some servers where it;s not being used. (Also: how to make sure that there are no postgresql databases on the server? To make sure that it's not being used?)

so did anyone find out how to uninstall postgres?

the link to rpm and the recommendation of searching before asking was futile or useless.

I used /scripts/installpostgres and never had a prob on same and similar boxes, but getting errors every 2 minutes and need to remove it as nothing seems to fix it.

nevermind, there were two additional dependencies via rpm that needed to be removed before using rpm -e postgresql

funny how you find the answer after you post a question/comment

What was the dependency. Its helpful if you post exact solution to a problem thread for benefit of all.

run rpm -e postgresql
and you will see it complain. it's version dependent. once it spits out the dependencies you can "rpm -e" those that are indicated, then do the main postgresql mentioned.

my first attempts had typo and that's why I thought it didn't work.

but it complained later that it could not find postgres in cpanel service watch/manager functions. So I had to reinstall it. So no matter what is done I get a bunch of emails every few minutes about postgres errors from this one particular box. So I'll try to uninstall it again after taking it out of the service manager monitoring and see if that makes a diff for us.
