This message was created automatically by mail delivery software. I'm getting loads of these from my vbulletin board and billing system (assuming both obviously use user 'nobody'). I'm disabled in tweak settings "track origin headers..." and "prevent user nobody...". Also, i have 0 for default unlimited outgoing mails, i have "prevent pop3 flood..." off too. I'm using exim 4.34 and cpanel 9.9.9 C81. I have on only "Include a list of Pop before SMTP senders in the X-PopBeforeSMTP header when relaying mail."

What else could I do to prevent this?

A message that you sent could not be delivered to one or more of its recipients. This is a permanent error. The following address(es) failed:

We have the same issue and its driving me bloody crazy.

This message was created automatically by mail delivery software.

A message that you sent could not be delivered to one or more of its
recipients. This is a permanent error. The following address(es) failed:

    johnscottanthony@hotmail.com
    unrouteable mail domain "hotmail.com"

The server can resolve the name fine.

    root@host1 [/etc]# nslookup aol.com
    Server: 127.0.0.1
    Address: 127.0.0.1#53

    Non-authoritative answer:
    Name: aol.com
    Address: 152.163.142.184
    Name: aol.com
    Address: 205.188.145.213
    Name: aol.com
    Address: 64.12.187.24

I have no Idea why its doing it..I have searched the boards and it seems to be a fairly common issue..but no one seems to have the answer on how to fix it.
Its not just hotmail that it barfs on either..other domains like msc.com, aol.com also do it.

Someone please give me some insight here.

    THanks in advance.
    Paul

I get unrouteable mail domain "comcast.net" all the time. It's really strange because it works often, others are usually always working, but when I get it, it's almost always comcast.net.

ive tried just about everything, going to do a complete reinstall of apache tonight. but every local script, those produced by phpbb forums, oscommerce, ect ect gets the following error.

This message was created automatically by mail delivery software (Exim).

A message that you sent could not be delivered to one or more of its recipients. This is a permanent error. The following address(es) failed:

    email@anydomainhere
    (generated from email@anydomainhere
    unrouteable mail domain "email@anydomainhere"

------ This is a copy of the message, including all the headers. ------

    :D

I should state that I only started experiancing these problems when i updated apached and php, and zend.

    things I have tried?

    1. checked tweak settings in whm

Unchecked:->Track the origin of messages sent though the mail server by adding the X-Source headers (exim 4.34+ required

Set to 0 (unlimited)->The maximum each domain can send out per hour (0 is unlimited):

unchecked:-> Prevent the user 'nobody' from sending out mail to remote addresses (php and cgi scripts generally run as nobody if you are not using phpsuexec and suexec respectively.)

however i was under the impression since i have SuExec enabled that I should leave that checked. any thoughts?

    2. Reinstalled/updated exim by running /scripts/exim4

Suddenly one of domains stopped accepting any incoming mail, bouncing them with the following error:

    xx.xx.xx.xx. does not like recipient.
Remote host said: 550-"The recipient cannot be verified. Please check all recipients of this 550 message to verify they are valid."

When trying to create mail from some local domain, it hangs in the queue. "Deliver now" breaks with error "Unrouteable address".

Has anyone solved such problem before?

Just curious, look at your http.conf as some of you say it happened after your last compliiation.

There is a contact in httpd.conf that causes issues, and cpanel does not look at it for some reason.

    pico httpd.conf
    ctrl+w ServerAdmin

Make sure that email addy is valid. If not make a forward or pop acct.

    Unrouteable domain errors fixed!

I started getting the "unrouteable domain name" error and I don't know why. It was a bear to track down and fix but the following three procedures were the key to the resolution. I offer this in hopes that others can more quickly handle this error in the future...

I resolved the issue at around 2:30am today. I did the following three procedures:

    1 From SSH I ran /scripts/reseteximtodefaults
(this even broke exim further as it removes spam assassin in the process)
2 From WHM I rebuilt Apache to the previous configuration
3 From SSH I reinstalled exim with /scripts/exim4

Immediately following these steps I started receiving the off server email again.

What are the ownerships on /usr/sbin/sendmail ?

    ls -l /usr/sbin/sendmail

    You should see

    -rwxr-sr-x 1 root mailtrap 8683 Nov 7 08:07 /usr/sbin/sendmail

If the GID is incorrect, scripts may not be able to send mail.
I've seen this on a few boxes after enabling the whm tweak

Track the origin of messages sent though the mail server by adding the X-Source headers (exim 4.34+ required)
