    Hello all,

We are running Exim4, cPanel 8.4.0-S92 on a RedHat 7.3 server.

For the last couple of days we have been having problems sending mail outbound via a PHP mail form that was working previously. Mail to ANY non-local domain bounces back with an "unrouteable mail domain" error.

I've researched other threads on this matter and none of them have solved our problem. We do not have "Prevent user nobody..." enabled. We do not have a limit on the number of outbound e-mails. Our local DNS server can perform a successful dig on the domains that are bouncing. I have run /scripts/exim4, /scripts/upcp, and /scripts/sysup. As far as I can tell, there are no problems with the permissions or with exim.conf.

Can anyone give me some further troubleshooting steps to take care of this problem?

    Hello,

Since last week we have been having this problem. It is weird because for the past month everthing was working fine on the server, then suddenly this problem appeared. In outlook it says server cannot find an owner for the domain....

it's really strange. We sell hosting, and some of our clients are experiencing this problem and not others....also, we asked cpanel to fix it, they did...then 12 hours later the emails went down again, we asked cpanel to fix it, they did...then another few hours later the emails went down again and so on...we hadn't touch any of the settings on the server or anything.

our servers are managed so we told the company who run them to get a permanent fix from cpanel and that was 10 hours ago...our emails are still down. I hope they come back up soon.

I am also having the same problem, it seems that its very random, etc.

Anyone have any new ideas, I've tried them all and searched and looked at every thread on here about it with no luck.

The problem is /etc/localdomains getting emptied. /scripts/mailperm fixes this but it keeps happening. Something continues to cause the /etc/localdomains to be emptied.

    yeah this is ridiculous.

Anyways to fix, go to the domains default address and change it to the account name for that domain.

It's only the MAIN account email that is becoming unroutable right?

Another suggestion by bdraco was to run

    /usr/local/cpanel/bin/checkdefaultaddys --force

    whatever that does.

No this is for all e-mail addresses. If the domain isn't listed in /etc/localdomains e-mail for that domain isn't going anywhere nor is it getting received.

yikes, I only noticed this issue for me on 2 domains and it was the main account only.

But I could be wrong and there may be many more problems that just haven't been reported to me yet.

Actually what worked for me is that I uncheck the Prevent the user nobody from sending mail option.

However, I do have phpsuexec so why isn't this working correctly?

If I check it, I get the unrouteable mail domain message on one of my PostNuke sites outgoing e-mails.

If phpsuexec is installed then why can't I check Prevent nobody from sending mail?

Same problem with that upgrade. Had to delete and re create accounts just to get the mailer going. And one of the accounts three times. Nothing wrong with the dns, just the buggiest cpanel update i seen thus far. Being that I host ALOT of webpages from this server I will not be happy if I have to backup files delete and recreate any more accounts ever again.

Get this sorted cpanel, this is why we pay you the big bucks v's using one of the cheeper panels...

I have the same problem. I was wondering why any php scripts using the mail() command end up sending the mail from user "nobody" instead of the person's account that the script is running from? It almost seems like a suexec problem?? I am not sure though I am just getting back into this stuff. Been gone for a long time.
