I'm trying to install cPanel on a ESXi server, but get this error message:
    Code:
    2014-12-02 06:09:22 433 ( INFO):
    2014-12-02 06:09:22 434 ( INFO): Beginning Installation v3
2014-12-02 06:09:22 355 (ERROR): '/etc/redhat-release' is not managed by RPM.
2014-12-02 06:09:22 356 (ERROR): Unsupported distro detected. cPanel only supports CentOS, RedHat Enterprise, and CloudLinux 5 and 6
    2014-12-02 06:09:22 357 (FATAL): Please re-install cPanel from a valid distro
The funny thing is that I'm installing it using "cPanel-CentOS-6.4-x86_64.iso" found on cPanel's website (Downloads - cPanel Inc.).

    cp01.jpg
    cp02.jpg

And there's no doubt that the distro is actually Centos:
    Code:
    [root@localhost ~]# cat /etc/redhat-release
    CentOS release 6.4 (Final)

    Hello :)

    Please post the output from:

    Code:
rpm -q yum python centos-release package
Also, is your hostname configured properly or is it set to "localhost"?

    Thank you.

Same issue this morning. I thought I had missed something, but after re-downloading the ISO and trying 2 more times with various changes, I am getting the same error.

I have the exact same problem.

Tried to se anything, but the downloaded file is a binary, so... it's a no-no.

Just can't work without this. :(

Looks like it's working for me this morning, although the CentOS install part still says that some dependencies are missing. Meh, it's running. I'm happy.
