    Hello,

We have upgraded cpanel to stable version - 11.18.1-STABLE_20683. It has also updated the centos version...What care should be done to avoid this happening in future.....

The previous centos version : CentOS release 4.5 (Final)

The updated centos version : CentOS release 4.6 (Final)

You could exploit your /etc/yum.conf file to exclude some core packages from being upgraded (ex. kernel* ). However i can't imagine any simple, good reason for somebody running a vanilla CPanel CentOS server not to upgrade the OS to the latest available packages. I suppose it is clear to all of us that CentOS is a direct RedHat Enterprise clone and should be as stable as RedHat is (rock solid in my experience).

Disabling sysup from running will accomplish this. In WHM, change your Update Configuration to not do Security Updates.
