I'm running the upcp to update Cpanel, but I'm receiving so many error and the update is not completed.

rpmdb: unable to join the environment
error: db4 error(11) from dbenv->open: Resource temporarily unavailable
error: cannot open Packages database in /var/lib/rpm
rpmdb: unable to join the environment

I used export LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.2.5 and rpm --rebuilddb, but problem persists.

    Any help?

    Try these.... it can help..

    1. Check for processes holding the rpm database open (usually in MUTEX/FUTEX states):

    lsof | grep /var/lib/rpm

If it finds any, kill -9 them all.

    2. Delete any temporary DB files:

    rm -fv /var/lib/rpm/__*

    3. Rebuild your RPM database:

    rpm --rebuilddb -v -v

if the issue is still there.. try a reboot and try the steps 2 & 3 again.

    I received an error.

    root@server10 [~]# rpm --rebuilddb -v -v
    D: rebuilding database /var/lib/rpm into /var/lib/rpmrebuilddb.6404
    D: creating directory /var/lib/rpmrebuilddb.6404
D: opening old database with dbapi 3
    D: opening db environment /var/lib/rpm/Packages create:cdb:mpool
rpmdb: write: 0xbfffd260, 8192: Invalid argument
    error: db4 error(22) from dbenv->open: Invalid argument
    D: opening db index /var/lib/rpm/Packages rdonly mode=0x0
    error: cannot open Packages index
    D: removing directory /var/lib/rpmrebuilddb.6404

Do you think a reboot is necessary?

Normally I could fix all the related issues like this.. assuming you had already used the export kernel option..

    Also try...

    cd /var/lib/rpm/
    chattr -i *

Nothing works.... you can try a reboot... if you can afford that...
