updating to apache2

    how do I update to apache2 even if cpanel doesn't support it. because i don't use cpanel that much. there are no one except me using this server. i can do everything by myself. so is it safe to upgrade to apache2?

    If you don't use cPanel to do domain management and web aliases, and you don't need it to control Apache then by all means do it. But basically you are disabling a core part of cPanel.

    Bear in mind that you'll have to download and compile Apache yourself and configure it to work.

    I'm curious though - if you don't use cPanel that much, why did you get it in the first place? Seems like overkill to me too when there's only one user, ie. yourself.
