    update doesnt work????????

    I am trying to upgrade for the securty fix but it does not work. I started to upgrade yesterday and i left my comp on. After checking its stuck at this:

    Fetching http://httpupdate.cpanel.net/cpanelsync/STABLE-FREEBSD/cpanel/.cpanelsync.lock....100%......Done

    I have restarted upgrade 3 times and now i looked at it again, still this:

    Fetching http://httpupdate.cpanel.net/cpanelsync/STABLE-FREEBSD/cpanel/.cpanelsync.lock....100%......Done

    It has been doing this for 13 hours now. What is wrong?

    Try stopping cpanel before doing any updates as shown above.

    Hi i'm using freebsd 5.2.1 stable with cpanel 8.8 stable and i'm having the same problem to updating to cpanel 9. The update is stuck at 30% with the same message that you written. You normaly should be able to restart cpanel and whm, it worked for me.

    Waiting for a solution for the update to cpanel 9 on freebsd.

    I let it runs for the night and still don't get the update. Do you know if the message means that my server are waiting for a place on the update server at cpanel ?

    thanks

    hmmm... I've got the same problem here on FreeBSD 4.9

    It just repeats the following:

    Fetching http://httpupdate.cpanel.net/cpanelsync/STABLE-FREEBSD/cpanel/.cpanelsync.lock....100%......Done
    Waiting for access to the update server......

    /scripts/upcp --force doesn't make any difference, just appears to make it skip the current version check.

    what is the .cpanelsync.lock?

    Has Cpanel left a lock on the FreeBSD-STABLE updates?

    Can anyone tell me if they have successfully updated to the latest "STABLE" Cpanel on FreeBSD?

    Weird.... I left it on for quite a few hours as well... but it never got passed that point.

    If you go to that URL with the .cpanelsync.lock file with your web browser, you will see the file exists and just contains the word locked.

    Looking at the upcp script, it appears to keep checking this until it no longer says locked. Which means, unless someone or something changes the contents of that file on Cpanel's web server, you can't upgrade!

    Fcntl.so: unsupported file layout

    After an automatic update, my Cpanel on FreeBSD 5.2.1 was inaccessible.

    The errors was:

    After 1 days, i fixed the problems.

    I opened /etc/cpudate.conf and i setted this options:

    BSDPORTS=no
    CPANEL=release
    RPMUP=no
    SYSUP=no

    Then, i wrote:

    /scripts/upcp --force

    And all works fine now.
    It seems Cpanel STABLE have something wrong and RELEASE work fine with FreeBSD.

    I hope this post can be useful for others users.
    I apologize for my english.

    We changed our update settings on a single 5.x FREEBSD box exhibiting these symptoms. This fixed everything and we were able to force a cpup to STABLE again.
