Upgrade From mbox to maildir

If and when I deicde to upgrade to maildir from mbox will it make it where no one on my server can use horde. I read somewhere horde runs with mbox. So I figure I upgrade and loose it. ??

if not or whatever your answer how have your converts from mbox to maildir went!, I have clients with tons of email. Average 6GB each some even more.

I know it will take time to conver to maildir!, just want to make sure to know what's going to happen and what changes.

With those clients with 6GB+ of mail stored on the server, expect conversions on each of those to take several hours.

Horde and Squirrelmail will work with mbox or maildir. NeoMail is the webmail client that will cease functioning after the maildir conversion.

While the conversion process is in progress, users will not receive new mail (it will be queued for delivery after the conversion has completed) but they can still access their already delivered email via POP3, IMAP and webmail.

The main thing to emphasize is LET THE PROCESS COMPLETE! The majority of botched conversions are caused by an impatient sysAdmin who terminates the process. It may look like it's idling, hanging and whatever - but it is still working. Let the process complete, it will take a long time on a server like yours that has a lot of email residing on it.
