I already asked this question here http://forums.cpanel.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=7625

As in the case of Invisions for eg you can go to cd /usr/local/cpanel/addons/InvisionsBoard and find a packaged file called pkg.tar.gz. There is no version number on it or anything. This is the file that gets deployed in the users webspace. I wonder if one could just create a new file from the latest version and package it, pkg.tar.gz if this would work?

Nothing prevents you from creating your own packages. It's not too hard if you look at the config scripts of the other packages.

I created the package exactly as the currently tar is packaged and everthing works fine until one has to click on the url to access the forum, then she takes a poop with a mysql error connection. Installing, removing etc all works otherwise.

hi, i want to update phpbb too,
would i be ok by just uploading the updates to the forums that i have already installed on my server?

also, where are the main installation packages for phpbb located on cpanel? i think it would be a file like phpbb2.x.tar.gz
Now, do i have to download the latest release from phpbb.com and upload it to my server replacing the older version?

    regards

Nope, the downloaded file from phpbb has to be packaged properly if thats what cpanel is doing. Im working on Invisions right now after that i will eyeball phpbb.

    How's it coming? Invision.

I need to be more careful about the new apps I tout to my clients. :)
