I am running CentOS 5 with cpanel 11 release, apache 2.0, mysql 4.1 and php 5. Is it safe to upgrade mysql from 4.1 to 5.0 or 5.1? If so, which one is recommended for use with cpanel? I have read about some people having trouble after upgrading to mysql 5.x.

Also which apache is recommended? 2.0 or 2.2?

    Thanks!

Moving from 4.1 to 5.0 isn't as bad as going from 4.0 to 5.0. Most seem to do alright after the upgrade so long as they follow the directions in that tweak setting in WHM.

I believe 5.1 support is only in EDGE at this time as that product is still in BETA.

As for Apache 1.3 vs. 2.0 or 2.2, there's been much discussion about that in various threads. Some people notice significant performance improvements by moving to Apache 2, others don't.

We don't offer RPMs or support for MySQL 5.1 at this time. Once that product reaches General release stage then it will be considered.

Depending upon your applications, there should be little impact on switch from MySQL 4 to 5. However, it is possible for some SQL statements to no longer work properly if they use INNER JOINS as MYSQL did change how those work in the MYSQL 5.0 series.
