    Hi

    eariler i tried to upgrade php to 4.3.8, after compiling apache it wouldn't start, after 30 minutes of checking various things i recompiled again and went back to 4.3.7 which got apache running, here's the errors/logs i had.

    /usr/local/apache/logs/error_log

    [warn] pid file /usr/local/apache/logs/httpd.pid overwritten -- Unclean shutdown of previous Apache run?

    /usr/sbin/httpd configtest

    Warning: DocumentRoot [/dev/null] does not exist
    Warning: DocumentRoot [/dev/null] does not exist
    Syntax OK

    service httpd status

    Looking up localhost
    localhost
    Making HTTP connection to localhost
    Alert!: Unable to connect to remote host.

    So any idea what went wrong? and how i can fix this, as i'm currently stuck with an unsecure version of php ;\

    I also tried a second recompile of 4.3.8 with a backdated httpd.conf and a rebuilt resolv.conv

    btw i still get Warning: DocumentRoot [/dev/null] does not exist even though apache is now running

    thanks

    Did you have the same errors in configtest and such?

    I found this in my httpd.conf which is obviously what's causing the problem:

    <VirtualHost 12.34.56.78>
    BytesLog domlogs/12.34.56.78-bytes_log
    ServerName 12.34.56.78
    ServerAdmin root@localhost
    DocumentRoot /dev/null
    ScriptAliasMatch .* /usr/local/cpanel/cgi-sys/domainredirect.cgi
    </VirtualHost>

    Obviously cPanel put it there, but why the heck did it do that? is this a bug? (running current-R69)

    Hmmm, That is a unseen error before mine works fine :) PHP 5.0.0 is still being tested it would be adviced you do not update to that at this moment of time.
