Upgrading Centos - Will it effect what I have on the server?

I have WHM/Cpanel installed on a couple of VPS, and have always kept it up to date, along with all the scripts, but it still runs on Centos 5.3

As updates are for both improvements and security, I was wondering if I should update Centos to 5.9 or jump straight to 6.4? ???

I have no idea what effect that would have on the way the server runs, so any help appreciated. Should I just leave everything as is, because it is working fine, or upgrade to Centos 5.9 or 6.4? I don't want to screw anything up.

upgrading to Centos 5.9 you should have no issues
upgrading to centos 6.4 you should do a clean install and migrate/resotore from backup
