Upgrading Out of Date cPanel Installation Inquiry

Hello,

I am trying to update my WHM control panel from version 11.34 to version the latest release (70+), but I am not able to do so. In my Update settings there is no option to upgrade to version higher than 11.74. Is it possible and if yes how to proceed, if not why?

Can you run the following commands on this system and let us know the output?

cat /etc/redhat-release
cat /usr/local/cpanel/version
arch

I believe this is just a misunderstanding about the way our version numbers appear. As of cPanel & WHM version 54, the user interface no longer includes the parent value in the version number. However, most internal processes, such as configuration files, API functions, and RPM files, will continue to use the parent version number. Thus, cPanel & WHM version 74 (e.g. 11.74) is the most recent version available. You can read more about how this works at:

Thank you for the clarification. In version 54.12.22 is the parent value 12?

Also, when i try to run the update I receive the following error message.

[20180817.163347] E Running `/usr/local/cpanel/scripts/updatenow --upcp --log=/var/cpanel/updatelogs/update.1534538027.log --force` failed, exited with code 65280
=> Log closed Fri Aug 17 16:33:47 2018

Also just out of the curiosity, can i upgrade to something other than version 74.

In version 54.12.22 is the parent value 12?

No, the parent value is still 11. 11.74 is the most recent version to be published. You can see the release date for each previous version at:

Also just out of the curiosity, can i upgrade to something other than version 74.

Yes, you can choose the Stable tier in WHM >> Update Preferences to upgrade to cPanel & WHM version 72, or use the LTS tier to upgrade to cPanel & WHM version 70 (since you are on 11.34, you would need to manually modify the /etc/cpupdate.conf file to choose version 70).

In the past, this error has been addressed by using the steps noted in the following post:

/scripts/upcp --force exited with code 65280

Can you check to see if those instructions work?
