The other day I did this manually. I had to delete the old data from PostgreSQL 7 as I couldn't find a way to upgrade it so PgSQL 8 wouldn't start. Is there anyway to upgrade it with cPanel? Any script or something? So that if I were to have data from a user it can be upgraded with it?

    Help is greatly appreciated.

    Regards

Database upgrades should always be done manually, whether using MySQL or PostgreSQL. For either, the recommended procedure is:

    1. Read the release notes for the version you are upgrading to in order to determine what extra streps need taken for your particular circumstances.

    2. DUMP your databases into backup files

    3. Perform the upgrade

    4. Restore the database backups.
