upload file using cpanel

hi guyz i m newbie tried hard to uplaod file using cpanel....but when i m putting my link in address bar i m getting

Index of /

cgi-bin/

instead of normal home page. i have downloaded free template wanna upload it and get it as home page instead of link like this....
plz plz plz help asap....

Hello

Please ensure you upload your website files to the public_html directory. You will need to ensure there is an index file so the directory index does not appear.
