I have spent the last 24 hours scouring everything I could about this problem which has ocurred following the latest update (9.9.1-R3), but have not been able to resolve it...

Just a bit of background - the script we are using uses FTP to modify configuration files and other pages, and has not caused any problems in the past, however - immediately after the cpanel update, the script is unable to change permissions (chmod) the files it has created in order to allow write access. The specific error is this...

Warning: ftp_site(): Could not change perms on /public_html/demo/main.txt: No such file or directory

The part of the script that is no longer working is the fopen command using the "w" option. It acts as if the file is not created, but when looking from the shell prompt, the file is there with limited permissions and a 0 size.

I would really appreciate some help about whether there is a global php.ini setting or in the httpd.conf that has been changed to not allow certain write permissions. I really have tried and made sure that the directory is chmodded to 777, tried using the http version of the fopen (which tells me the wrapper doesn't allow writeable). If anyone is available for a little bit of consulting on this one - as none of our users are able to update pages - it basically wipes their configuration settings and disables their connections for this particular script.
