I have MailScanner installed on two servers running very well. I had it installed on the third server this morning, and now none of my sites can send email from their scripts, period. Nothing is going out or making it to the queue. Lots of sites domains are suddenly unroutable and well it is all a mess.

I keep stopping MainScanner but it keeps starting. I need to remove everything that was installed this morning asap so I can get my clients mail out. here are a few exim_mainlog entries:

    Already did the fix-doesnt work

Hi dave, I already performed the fix per the link making sure the perl module was installed and checking permissions and appributed. they all match the setup on the other two servers.

so now, after forcing an exim update again, sendmail won't work at all and returns "segmentation fault" at the command line.

I afraid things are getting worse fast. any other ideas?

cpanel updated several backend installs in the last day or 2, would have to go back and check exactly when.

give it a /scripts/upcp --force to ensure all supporting libs are up to date and also check the version of perl your running

if its below 5.8.7 then get the perl installer script from layer1 and do a perl update

and copy /etc/exim.pl from a working server over to your non working server

Ok Tried these too, no mail

hi dave, once again thanks. I'm at wits end here. I tried the following as you suggested. first my servers are all running:

    WHM 10.8.0 cPanel 10.8.1-S114
    Fedora i686 - WHM X v3.1.0

This server in question is running perl 5.8.7 and the others are 5.8.3

I tried to force upcp, no errors and it it running perl 5.8.7. I have tested sending mail from the sites via their php scripts and no joy.

Any other thoughts> I have stopped mail scnner, per their instructions, but it look like it keeps wanting to restart. also if i were to copy exim.pl from a working server would it work here because i have 5.8.7 installed and the others are 5.8.3. I wonder if that would further mess up the works.

I also tried this somewhere before i posted here in the forum for help:
    /scripts/checkyum
    /scripts/eximup --force
    mv /usr/sbin/sendmail /usr/sbin/sendmail.old
    ln -s /usr/sbin/exim /usr/sbin/sendmail

    ??

I had a very similar issue to this a few months ago and best I remember the copy of the exim.pl corrected it

copy the old one to a different name and give the one from the working server a try a try, its not going to work any worse

also drop chirpy a PM on this

    Fixed

    Per Cpanel.

"Running "rm -f /etc/eximmailtrap" usually resolves errors where the logs say certain UID's or GID's aren't permitted to relay mail. "

I did this and all is working fine again. Thanks for all of your replies and help. It was pretty frustrating.

    Go on, have a guess
Just for posterity of the thread - if this happens you also need to set eximmailtrap=0 in /var/cpanel/cpanel.config as well otherwise then next time you click WHM > Tweak Settings, /etc/eximmailtrap will be recreated.

    Thanks Chirpy

Yes, when spam assasin was disabled in tweak settings and saved, it reset this value to 1. I have changed it in all the cpanel.config files now. thanks
