    hey,

4 hours ago mysql stopped working, i can't connect anymore
    eximstats also failed
when i try to run it in ssh: (/usr/local/cpanel/bin/eximstats) it gives the following error:

DBI connect('eximstats:localhost','eximstats',...) failed: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2) at /usr/local/cpanel/bin/eximstats line 258
    Can't Connect at /usr/local/cpanel/bin/eximstats line 261.

also the root can't seem to login anymore,

i tried a lot of stuff for 3,5 hours already.. without success

    anyone any ideas ?

ok.. me and some other smart guy tried EVERYTHING we could possible find or think off
it seems like the whole thing is just fucked !

so i'll probably let some people re-image/install the whole server tomorrow and put the backups from this morning back after some software updates...

if anyone thinks this is a bad idea and has a good solution.. feel free to post

First, look at the following error.

"Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket'/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock'"

Is the mysql.sock in the following location?

    /var/lib/mysql

If it is, looks like your exim mail server is down. Try running from root

    /scripts/exim4

    Thanks

    nope..
    that's not it..

    eximstats gives this error now:

DBI connect('eximstats:localhost','eximstats',...) failed: Access denied for user: 'eximstats@localhost' (Using password: YES) at /usr/local/cpanel/bin/eximstats line 258
    Can't Connect at /usr/local/cpanel/bin/eximstats line 261.

have you tried restarting MySQL ?? Are you getting any errors when you attempt to restart MySQL ??

If MySQL is totally gone, you may just need to reinstall.. :)

well you could go to MySQL website and get the RPM's for your server, IE . *.i386.rpm. Check to see which ones you have installed at the shell prompt by
    Code:
    rpm -qa | grep MySQL

this should display what's installed and just remove them and reinstall or do an update: rpm -Uvh MySQL.....i386.rpm for each of the RPM's needed.

Also, there is a script in the /scripts folder called fixmysql which appears to reinstall MySQL. I've never used it before, but it maybe worth checking out too :)
