    [SOLVED] strange mail problem

    hello
my clients transferred their hosts from hostgator into my server.
After that their mail accounts cannot send/receive mail through outlook2003, 2007, thunderbird...etc
however they can login mail account through webmail and send/receive mail too.

I asked them to create new mail account. They did it and test that new mail account works without any problem. But their mail accounts(used in hostgator) keep throwing error that "cannot login pop server".

I have to fix this mess or my clients will go somewhere else.

Any help is very much appreciated.

    Hello :)

Could you let us know which specific mail server settings are in use in the email clients? In particular, what is being used for mail server name?

    Thank you.

    Dear Michael
Thanks for reply. Here is what i did so far.

    i tested
    outlook express
    outlook 2003
    outlook 2007
    thunderbird
    windows mail
    windows live

    mail server settings are
    pop : mail.myclients.net / 110
    smtp: mail.myclients.net / 26
    Server require authentication (checked)
use same setting as pop (checked)
    user name : info+myclients.net

Also today i changed Dovecot to Courier

And i removed ssl cert. for all services then run
    /scripts/updateuserdomains
    /scripts/mailperm

    i can login via cmd
    telnet myclients.net 110
    + OK
    user info@myclients.net
    +OK
    pass 123456
    +OK Logged in
i can see all mails by typing list.

Also there is NO problem with newly created mail accounts. But mail accounts used before transferring keep failing.

    Try this just to test:
    Server require authentication (checked)
Uncheck that, save and try your mail client.

    Dear infoPro
I did as you said. still same.
BTW. I forgot the mention something in my previous posts.
Outlook can connect SMTP server(i am able to send test message to my hotmail account) but failed POP server.
In the mean while I can connect POP server via Command Prompt but i can notnot connect SMTP server.

OK to test some more looking at what you've tried already:
    user name : info+myclients.net

    Change that to info@myclients.net

    Dear InfoPro
You are genius. I love you so much.
Finally problem solved. Without you it was impossible to solve this damn problem.

    Here is last question:
Why cPanel shows info+myclients.net instead of info@myclients.net ??
Also why cpanel tells us that Server Require Authentication??

    With my best regards
If you were here then i might kiss you.

I may just use that for my forum signature some day. ;)

As to your questions, lets assume that cPanel runs in multiple environments and these settings may or may not be needed/used in them.

Good to hear you got it all sorted.
