On my server it seems that I can only login via the web form for cPanel. I don't get the .htpasswd type login (same login used with protected directories).

Unless there is a setting I'm missing, my only thought that this is happening is, because I don't have a proper SSL cert therefor my browser asks if I really want to continue and I'm taken to the login rather then not needing to confirm and just getting the popup.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello CrunchyToast,

This is due to the setting in WHM > Tweak Settings:

If you have this set to "Off", which is the recommended setting, cPanel/WHM/Webmail will use cookies and provide a login form. If you have it set to "On" for HTTP Authentication, then you will get a popup box prompting the username and password. I don't recommend switching this to On due to the fact it can use cached data and be used by attackers.

    Thanks!

Okay. I was wondering about that. I see major hosts using it like that and don't ever get the HTML login unless I hit cancel or something. I suppose I'll leave it how it is then.

    Thanks.
