Username is already taken?

    On deleting the account and username "user" then trying to create the same account again i get the error message "ouch this user already exists" how can i delete the user if its not displayed on the accounts list in WHM please?

    same problem

    I am having the same problem "Real users" not being deleted on account deletion. Ever get a resolution to this?

    Make sure the user is not in /etc/password and /etc/shadow if they are use deluser USERNAME (or userdel USERNAME) to remove them. Make sure they you do not really need the account if you do this!

    I would first check that they are not listed in WHM. If you delete it like this you may have to remove the user from proftp and apache manually.

    Not quite the point

    Well, I was just tagging on to some one else's post so let me state my problem over.

    I remove an account from WHM and it goes through and says it is doing all of this, but it isn't. I am using Fedora 3 x86_64. I tried coping the /scripts/killlacct to another file and added the username but it just says it cannot find that user. I can't find any place that logs what the script does so I don't know why it fails to delte the 'real user'.

    Ha haaaaaaa.... i did the above and manually deleted via ftp now the user has been deleted but the account is still listed in WHM. when i try to delete this account its says : Warning!.. unix user does not exist!
    Please... how do i manually delete the account on the WHM accounts list? :D

    add the user back via command line then terminate via whm

    Done that but again i'm getting the error...
    Killing all processes owned by user...Done
    Waiting 80 seconds for accounting lock...
    Waiting 70 seconds for accounting lock...
    Waiting 60 seconds for accounting lock...
    Waiting 50 seconds for accounting lock...
    Waiting 40 seconds for accounting lock...
    Waiting 30 seconds for accounting lock...
    Waiting 20 seconds for accounting lock...
    Waiting 10 seconds for accounting lock...


    then the server crashes and restarts :(
